Mr. S. Suresh

Selvaratnam Suresh BSc (Hon), MSc, CEng, MIET

Mr. Suresh was born and brought up in Kodikamam. He completed his primary school education in Kokdikaamam, then moved to Jaffna Central College and completed his GCE O/L.

At the age of 16 Suresh left Srilanka to complete his higher education in England. He completed his first degree and master’s in Electrical and Electronics engineering. He became a Chartered Electrical engineer in 1987.

His official career commenced as a graduate engineer for a large Aerospace and defence engineering company. Within a very short space of time he was promoted to a senior management position. In 1982, Mr. Suresh was part of the team who developed the world first fly by wire technology landing gear computer for the airbus A320 aircraft. In 1992 he was the first Asian in his workplace to be promoted to head of Operations where he managed a number of companies in UK, USA, Malaysia and Singapore.

Mr. Suresh has been involved in charity work for more than 30 years. He is the Permanent Trustee – Co-Founder of Oriental Fine arts Academy of London. He has worked relentlessly hard to make OFAAL the largest fine arts South Asian music examination board in Europe. The growth and success of OFAAL is one of his most treasured and commendable achievements, today, the charity has thousands of candidates taking examinations in France, Holland, Denmark, UK, Germany and Norway and most recently, Ireland & Finland. Mr. Suresh has been influential in supporting and encouraging young and upcoming teachers all over Europe.

Mr. Suresh’s main vision through OFAAL is to promote and preserve Carnatic fine arts to the children living in Europe and future generations to come.
